   Alliance Library System (ALS) and LearningTimes are pleased to announce the debut of ATLAS (Alliance Trail to Learning and Syndicated Sites) at http://www.atlaspodcasts.org. ATLAS is a new set of social media tools ALS is using to promote information and historical photos about Illinois history.    Passavant earns national recognition for nursing excellence Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville has achieved Magnet designation for excellence in nursing services by the American Nurses Credential Center’s (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®.  Passavant is among the 5 percent of hospitals nationwide to achieve the Magnet Recognition®, and one of only 19 in Illinois.  Passavant Area Hospital-Sibert Library is an ALS member and Karen Douglas is the librarian.  Congratulations on this achievement!

Long time library support Marjorie Bergland passes away

   Marjorie Bergland of Aledo served on the Mercer County Library Board for over 36 years and was president of the Western Illinois Library System and the transition board. The Alliance library System board and members recognize and thank Marge for her many, many years of service and dedication to the Illinois Library community. She will be remembered.    For the first time, NN/LM-Greater Midwest Region is offering the Patient Safety Resource Seminar: Librarians on the Front Lines in an online format. This six-week course will cover the same materials as the four-hour in-person class, but you can take it at your own pace via Moodle. It will cover definitions, system issues, and legislation. Additionally, the course allows you to focus in one of three areas: patient safety to consumers, advocating patient safety in your institution, or teaching patient safety. more...
